Hello! I was just sitting here thinking about my ordeal with the blood clots and reflecting on comments that were made by doctors in the ER and hospital; and realizing my doctor asked the same question..."Were you not able to move around much after surgery".
Then suddenly it dawned on me...My discharge paper said elevate at heart level for 72 hours. I elevated every day, all day. More than 2 weeks. I was so busy trying to keep my feet elevated, that I didn't move around much. I say this to say that although elevating definitely keeps the swelling at bay, I think I did more harm than good and could have contributed to getting the blood clot by NOT moving around much, just to keep my feet elevated.
So, I would advise, listen to your doctor when it comes to elevating your feet and elevate as needed, thereafter. Hindsight is 20/20.
